Julie Clare

Julie has worked as an actress/singer (national tours, rep and West End) for over 20 years, writer (commissions from Initial for her film script Ackee & Gefilte Fish and Channel 4 for her comedy drama First Generation) and producer of The Busker Symphony, four short films also for Channel 4.

She has been performing with Showstopper! the Improvised Musical for seven years including West End seasons at The Ambassadors and The Charing Cross Theatre and sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Since 2012 she has been producing theatre through her company, One Spirit Productions.

Recent credits include Miss Havisham’s Expectations (Trafalgar Studios), Soul Night Special and The 50 Hour Improvathon (Lost Theatre) and she has recently been shortlisted for the S&S award with co-writer and lyricist Jack Robinson (I Love To Love, Saddle Up, Strut Your Funky Stuff) for disco musical Walking The Dogs. She is currently developing The H Word with One Spirit co-founder Carol Russell – the world’s first (as far as we know) totally devised musical.

She founded The Producers’ Pool – a monthly networking event for early stage producers and since 2011 has also been Strategic Director and lead PR for Fresh Voices, running readings at BAFTA as well as the inaugural BAME Writers Boot Camp in partnership with London Film School.
